This 38 Special cartridge by Magtech features the 158 grain FMJ FN bullet you need to turn paper targets into Swiss cheese. Its manufacturer layered a flat layer of copper over the bullet to help preserve its shape as it’s propelled rapidly down the bore, as well as to prevent bore leading. This bullet’s flat meplat serves a purpose — much like a wadcutter, its broad frontal area will cleanly punch a hole through a paper target, making it easier to spot your results from uprange as well as score them without ambiguity.
This cartridge is loaded with a small pistol primer and clean burning propellant which reliably yield a 755 fps muzzle velocity, so you’ll be able to anticipate what will ensue after every trigger pull. The flat nose (FN) design on these bullets is fantastic for paper targets. It punches clean, circular holes that look like they were made by a wadcutter, making scoring very easy. At 15 yards, my groups were incredibly tight and consistent. There is very little variation in velocity between shots.

Aside from Magtech being highly reliable factory ammo, the brass they use is top-tier. I reload all my own revolver ammunition, and these casings are excellent. They have thick walls, uniform primer pockets, and I easily get 6 to 8 reloads out of a single piece of brass before seeing splits. It adds huge value to the initial purchase.
