We are pleased to offer an excellent example of a classic World War I infantry rifle: a French Berthier 1907/15 in very good overall condition, with a good bore and matching serial numbers.
Introduced during the Great War to supplement and eventually replace the earlier Lebel rifles, the Berthier 1907/15 offered a modern, streamlined design with a more practical Mannlicher-style en bloc clip system. This particular rifle remains in very good condition, showing careful preservation over the decades. The metal retains a solid, honest finish with clear markings, the wood is sound with appropriate service character, and—most importantly—the bore is in good condition with clear rifling. The fact that it retains matching numbers further attests to its integrity and adds significant collector appeal.
Chambered in the historic 8mm Lebel cartridge, this Berthier is not only a fine display piece representing the French “Poilu” of the trenches, but also a capable and interesting shooter. For the collector of World War I arms, this matching, well-kept 1907/15 is a solid and historically resonant find. It stands ready as a tangible link to the battlefields of a century ago.
