We are pleased to offer a superb example of post-war British production: a Fazakerley No.5 Mk1 “Jungle Carbine” in Very Good, all-matching condition, manufactured in January 1946.
Marked “ROF (F) 1/46”, this rifle was produced in the first month following World War II, representing the refined quality of immediate post-war manufacture. It remains in outstanding condition, featuring matching serial numbers on receiver and bolt, the front sight assembly has been cut down and is missing the protective ears and bayonet lug. The rifle boasts a bright, excellent bore, strong metal finish with crisp markings, and well-preserved wood with minimal handling marks.
As the final evolution of the Lee-Enfield line, the Jungle Carbine is prized for its lightweight, handiness, and iconic features like the cone-shaped flash hider, rubber butt pad, and milled rear sight. This January 1946 Fazakerley example, with its matching numbers and excellent state, represents a premium opportunity for the collector or shooter seeking a definitive, high-condition piece of British military history, ready for display or the range.
